Sunday Funday for All ages!

The Vero Beach Polo Club. Second Annual Julian Hipwood Tournament. February 26th 2020.

Two games were played at the Polo Grounds in Vero Beach Sunday that featured the best up and coming players in North America.

Game one for the younger players had  the Junior Vero Beach Polo Team take on the Windsor Polo Junior Team. Vero Beach with young stars Jem Handler and Sindy Moncada were joined by Jack Whitman. The Windsor team, Tomas Caro and Vero local star Harrison Reicher had Landon Daniels on the field with them.

The second match of the day had another Windsor Polo Team take on the visitors. Pony Express.

The crowd on the sidelines, which included enthusiastic fans from the Boys and Girls Club of Indian River County got to see fantastic, fast up and down the field polo from the more “senior” junior players including Jack Whitman, Miki Norvillo Astrada, Landon Daniels and local favorite… third generation player and grandson of Julian Hipwood, Finn Secunda.

At the end of the Four chukker match Pony Express won due to great communication between their players, Jack and Landon well backed up by Giullana Battista and Harry Reicher ..Harry playing his second match of the day.

The runners up, Windsor, were never far out of the match. Miki Norvillo Astrada hustling and challenging every play as did his team mates Ramon Caro and Maeve Reicher. Finn Secunda showed that he is a force to be reckoned with, not just in the junior ranks but as a well rounded player…Finn scored all four goals for Windsor. Final score. 6-4 Pony Express.
